More Than 100 Years of Heritage & Quality

Chevler began life as Cheverton & Laidler in 1920 and hasn’t looked back since. Today, we’re proud to be the world’s oldest continually operational manufacturer of baking cases. By celebrating our past, but always looking to the future, we have committed to using FSC-certified materials to put sustainability at the heart of our next 100 years. Along the way we’ve earned the trust of the largest bakeries in Europe, selling products to everyone from supermarkets to local coffee shops. Our base is a 5,000 sq. m factory in the heart of Wales where our team of experienced employees continue to do us proud.

Our values

What we believe in

These are the values that guide how we work, how we treat people, and how we try to do things the right way.

We put our customers first – We try to be helpful, honest, and quick to respond. If something goes wrong, we sort it. If it works well, we try to make it even better.

We do things properly – There’s no cutting corners here. We care about the little details, and if our name’s going on it, it needs to be right—simple as that.

We make everything ourselves – All our products are made in-house, right here in Wales. That way we know exactly what’s going out the door—and we can stand by it.

We keep moving forward – We don’t like standing still. Whether it’s new kit, better materials or smarter ideas, we’re always looking for ways to improve what we do.

We try to tread lightly – We’re not perfect, but we’re doing our best to reduce waste, use more sustainable materials, and make decisions that are better for the planet.

We look after our people – Some of our team have been here 30 years or more. We treat each other with respect and pass skills on so nothing’s lost between generations.

We say what we mean – No nonsense, no big claims we can’t back up. If we promise something, we deliver it. And if we can’t—we’ll tell you straight.

Here are the milestones

Chevler – Key Historical Milestones

From our beginnings in 1922 as Cheverton & Laidler, we’ve evolved through generations of innovation and craftsmanship. A management buyout in 1950 marked the transition to Chevler Packaging, with another in 2008 shaping the Chevler Limited we know today. Over the decades, we’ve pioneered baking case design, developed market-leading printed papers, and built long-standing partnerships across the UK and Europe. Our story is one of quality, consistency, and an unwavering commitment to our customers.
